You do not have to keep !NewsDir inside !Boot. I know that is the default as
installed by Messenger, but a lot of people think it's a bad idea to have
large quantities of user data stashed away inside !Boot and if you move it
elsewhere and make sure it is "seen" on booting, then Messenger will be
perfectly happy.
(I realise this does not help with the original problem...)
