I didn't particularly want one either but I wanted access to a number of
mailing lists they carry, such as the 7x12 minilathe group, and it was the
only way.

The mailing lists just run, quite happily, and have done for a long time but
on this particular occasion I was wanting to access the "files" section of
one of the groups.
