Cool, I've assigned it to myself now since I'm looking at it.

I thought that lib might be a sticking point, I had the same concerns
as you about the embedded gnulib.

I'll have a crack at implementing the spec myself, I don't think it's
particularly complicated, and now I know my approach is good I'm
willing to spend a bit more time on it.
