My experience with RPCEmu 0.8.11/4.02 was similar to Tony's; Windows 7
had to be allowed to brush its teeth, part its hair in the middle and
file its nails for several minutes before attempting to launch RPCEmu:
the telltale was when the HD activity light became intermittent or
went out altogether. I found network connecting to be much more
straightforward on 0.8.11/5.2 FWIW (and the 25-30% speed-up was
welcome, too), though I appreciate that isn't of particular help to
the OP.
