Most curious. It doesn't write to memory directly at all. It reads
from memory written to by OS_ReadVarVal, which is a standard way to
read a system variable. So I dunno.
I don't want to support the long-obsolete versions of RISC OS, and in
any case I'm in no position to do so. Sorry.
