Both the SDL and X frontends work fine for me on OpenBSD. Perhaps
worth comparing pkgsrc's Makefile to the one in the OpenBSD ports tree.
https://cvsweb.openbsd.org/ports/www/netsurf/netsurf-fb/Makefile?rev=HEAD

My first suspicion is that pkgsrc doesn't include libnsfb, which is
where the surfaces are implemented.

Hi everyone,

After successfully compiling Netsurf with the framebuffer frontend on
NetBSD (it required a patch for the Makefile, attaching it, please
consider merging it), it doesn't start with either "The sdl surface is
not available from libnsfb" if run without arguments other than -v, and
"The x surface is not available..." if run with `-f x`.

Do I need to install some additional software, or link it with
something else (I built it with pkgsrc; if you miss an
`.include <...buildlink3.mk>`, you can run into a problem; currently
there are gperf, librsvg, lcms, openssl, curl, libxml2, and mng
included).

The version is 3.8.

Thanks!

I have version 3.8 here, but the above functionality using the three-button
mouse has been in Netsurf for a long time (it was originally a RISC OS-only
browser). It may not be possible using the Linux interface - I don't know.

Sorry - my last line above, should have been

" RISC OS seems to have different versions and functionalities of NetSurf."

Which version is that?

The version that I am running, is 3.2, which, as I believe that I have
previously mentioned, is the latest version provided in the Ubuntu
Linux packages respositories, for Ubuntu Linux v16.04.x .

RISC OS sems to have vdifferent versions and fubxctionalities of NetSurf.

I don't know about Linux, but the RISC OS version offers all those options
via the normal context-sensitive menu: bring up the menu over an image, and
the second entry on the menu ('Object') offers the submenu options of Save
(original image), Export (in native RISC OS graphics format), Save location
(in various formats) and Reload [image].

(Do the same thing over an HTML link and the Object submenu offers a
different series of options....)

I don't think there is a menu/key option to open one image on a page in an
individual new window, but under RISC OS using the Save option to drop the
image back into a Netsurf window or its iconbar icon (or any other image
display application) has this effect anyway.

So far as I know, the only way to access Gmail is to keep Javascript turned
off - or to keep altering the setting under Choices->Content.

Gmail In Netsurf 3.9

Hey all, I did manage to get NS 3.9 built on my Powerbook G4, but noticed when trying to access gmail when javascript is enabled, even if I try html mode, it won't load. I just get a page with an ---> on it. If I turn off javascript then html mode loads fine.

So my question is, is there a fix for this, or is there a keyboard shortcut for turning off/on javascript? Or is there something I need to change on my system to allow the html version load without shutting off javascript?

Thank you!

Request for features and package maintainer

Hello.

I am using what is identified as
NetSurf 3.2 (26th August 2014)
on UbuntuMATE Linux 16.04.x .

NetSurf is not included in Ubuntu 18.04, as a repostory package (if
this is the correct way of putting it), as, from what I understand,
NetSurf now lacks a package maintainer for Ubuntu Linux.

Many users of Ubuntu Linux, like me, are not sufficiently advanced, to
be competent enough to build packages from source code.

So, if someone could become a NetSurf package maintainer for Ubuntu
Linux, it would be good, for users like me, and, Netsurf could
(hopefully) be restored to being included as a repository package, for
the latest version of Ubuntu Linux (and, the latest stable version of
Netsurf, could be available as a repository package).

Now, to the request for features...

1. with displayed images, when clicked with the non-dominant mouse
button, some other browsers include two options that NetSurf does not
include, in the menu that is thence displayed; "Open image in new tab
(and, some other browsers also have "Open image in new window")", and,
"Save image as.."

2. In the Tools menu, in some other web browsers, is an option to
Spellcheck, for instance, checking the spelling in this message that I
am writing, in using NetSurf to access this gmail account.

So, I am wondering whether, if these features are not already included
in NetSurf v3.8 (which is not available in the Ubuntu Linux
repositories), these features could be added to NetSurf.

Thank you in anticipation.

Hey all, I'm new to this list. I am new to this list and I am curious if anyone has successfully built NS3.8 on on Lubuntu 16.04LTS for PPC mac? If so can anyone provide some tips or special concerns in doing so?

Thank you so much!
