Works OK here on RiscPC Strong ARMv4 Adjust 4.39 with 3.5 & 3.6 Dev #3722 so
seems to be an Atari problem.

Amazon crash

I had a repeatable crash when opening www.amazon.co.uk with
Atari build 3699. I replaced it with Atari build 3722 but it
does the same.

I can raise a bug but it would be useful to know if others have the
same problem.

I removed the line

<style type="text/css" media="print">body { visibility: hidden;
display:none }</style>

and it displayed the page.

No-display page

http://www.petervis.com/Radios/sinclair-micromatic-pocket-radio/sinclair-micromatic-pocket-radio.html

Does not display. There is a lot of css at the start, then

<style type="text/css" media="print">body { visibility: hidden;
display:none }</style>

which kills it! But should this happen?

This is a similar issue to a GTK bug that had already been reported. I
have split that bug and created
http://bugs.netsurf-browser.org/mantis/view.php?id=2471 for the RISC
OS version.

This stems from the RISC OS frontend attempting to display multiple
SSL warnings for the site and because it is using a deprecated and
broken piece of compatibility code (treeview vs corewindow interfaces)
we get a crash.

I have fixed the GTK frontend which no longer crashes but as there is
no active RISC OS maintainer the work there has not been done.

Yes. NS just sits there apparently fetching but nothing happens. Both
SSL windows remain. If you wipe any other window across an SSL window
you get a trail of repeated frames across the text area of the window.

When I then rejected one of the certificates NS aborted. (#3697)

Yes. Always consider reporting such problems at
http://bugs.netsurf-browser.org/mantis/my_view_page.php
where you can upload the Netsurf log file generated on a failure.

The same thing happened to me over the weekend on sites that usually
work fine e.g. Facebook. Multiple "accept certificate" windows pop up
and accepting any of them crashes Netsurf eventually.

But it seems to have gone away now. I wonder what causes it?

Richard is it still crashing when you read this ?

Agreed.

Site crasher NS

Twice gives a window to accept certificate. On accepting second one, NS
dies.

Twitter no longer has next page link

m.twitter.com no longer seems to show any method for reading beyond the
first page (i.e. the last hour or so of tweets) - have they implemented some
kind of auto-scroll not supported by Netsurf? I couldn't immediately see
one in the page source.

Yes indeed. In addition, as a zip file grows, the updating of it gets
noticeably slower and slower, as it has more and more shuffling to do.
(or at least SparkFS does).

You may find that after deleting your cache, and then using the latest
version, the cache is better behaved. I am sure that my 300 empty
directories out of 6000+ is better than it used to be. Time will tell.

Ha! I have just noticed that the 'latest' RISC OS version is actually
rather older than I thought according to About this Program ...

Replacing the directory with an image filing system using a file format
that is not designed for random access will render the cache totally and
utterly pointless unless you're on 3600 baud internet. Perhaps not even
then.

There is cerainly a directory overload! 15 directories, each seems about 5
deep, so 75 in all!

At present, it seems each directory has one file in it, but I've not
checked all.

But I have replaced !Cache.Caches.Default.Netsurf with a zip archive
called Netsurf. This appeasrs to work fine, currently it's 492K - with 75
directories in it.

I have raised this sort of thing before. I think you would find there
were lots and lots of *empty* directories. Apparently on other FS such
directories cause no problems! I even wrote a program to analyse the
cache, and to create deletes for all empty directories. But I suspect it
currently has bugs, and I got diverted to other things!

I think my directory now (after deleting it all like you have in about
April) is now about 168MB - which is under its 1024MB limit. It does seem
to be using 6300 directories but only holds 1550 files! Still seems a
directory overload to me.

!Cache

My SSD (250GB nominal) was running out - only about 6BG free.

So I deleted !Cache's Netsurf directory. Now 157GB.

Two questions:

How does !Cache take account of NS choices? Disc cache is set to 1024MB.

What are the disadvantages of using a zip fine for Nwtsurf in !Cache.

This is on ARMX6. I'm aware that the lfau means that each block is quite
large. Not sure how large on a 250GB. There were lots of directories in
!Cache.
